How did hairdressing become your chosen profession?
“Hairdressing runs in my family; starting with my mum who used to work in a salon which influenced me in some ways but I have always been intrigued with hair and its transformative abilities. I started doing hair (mostly cornrows and braids) to earn some extra money whilst studying for my degree but I never intended on making it a long-term career. However, when I graduated, I found an apprenticeship in a salon, which paid me enough for my rent and bills, as well as providing me with a qualification. Since then I fell even more in love with hair, and so, I just allowed myself to be open to the different opportunities available for me to progress within the industry.”
What would you say was your defining moment as a professional hairstylist?
“So far, my defining moment was and remains styling Celeste for her 2020 Brit Awards
performance. It was amazing to not only be part of the creative process but to then have it be seen by almost 4 million people and to top it all off, she was featured on several ‘Best Brits Looks’ lists thereafter.”

What would be the one thing you could pass on to a young hairdresser?
“Everything you will ever need to know about hair is already within you just waiting to be unlocked; take every opportunity you get, to listen, watch and learn. Be gentle with hair and co-operate with it because when you fight hair it will fight you back.”

Here’s how you can re-create Grace Gray’s stunning, wild, fiery look created with the Spiral Curls Styling Kit.
Step One: Wash and brush your hair out separating it into individual sections using the HairFlair® Large Paddle Brush
Step Two: While your hair is still damp, insert Spiral Curls Styling Kit into your hair, section by section
Step Three: Keep your hair damp whilst inserting the Curlformers® using Flairosol Micro-Mist Applicator

Hazel Gardiner is an East London based floral artist, teacher, content creator and gardener. After surviving a rare cancer diagnosis in 2007, she decided to change her career from television production to vintage retail and events as well as her perspective on her natural curls.
“Prior to losing my hair due to radiotherapy, I had never strayed from chemically relaxing my hair and hadn’t seen my curls in their natural state since I was 13. I had also had long straight extensions for the first time right before diagnosis. I shaved my head when loss started to happen which gave me some control back. I then thought it was the perfect opportunity to go back to my natural curls..no need to transition!”

How did hairdressing become your chosen profession?
“Hairdressing runs in my family; starting with my mum who used to work in a salon which influenced me in some ways but I have always been intrigued with hair and its transformative abilities. I started doing hair (mostly cornrows and braids) to earn some extra money whilst studying for my degree but I never intended on making it a long-term career. However, when I graduated, I found an apprenticeship in a salon, which paid me enough for my rent and bills, as well as providing me with a qualification. Since then I fell even more in love with hair, and so, I just allowed myself to be open to the different opportunities available for me to progress within the industry.”
What would you say was your defining moment as a professional hairstylist?
“So far, my defining moment was and remains styling Celeste for her 2020 Brit Awards
performance. It was amazing to not only be part of the creative process but to then have it be seen by almost 4 million people and to top it all off, she was featured on several ‘Best Brits Looks’ lists thereafter.”

Here’s how you can re-create Grace Gray’s stunning, wild, fiery look created with the Spiral Curls Styling Kit.
Step One: Wash and brush your hair out separating it into individual sections using the HairFlair® Large Paddle Brush

The winners of the third annual Pure Beauty Global Awards were recently announced and of over 600 product entries, hairstyling brand HairFlair won the Best New Inclusive Product category for their innovative Softhood® bonnet hairdryer. The Pure Beauty Global Awards celebrate the best beauty products around the world and are judged by a panel of beauty experts and industry insiders. This year’s panelists included the likes of NARS Senior Makeup Artist Clayton Reid, Celebrity Facialist Nichola Joss and CEO of the British Beauty Council Milli Kendall, and were instrumental in selecting winners across 39 categories from 33 countries.

Hazel Gardiner is an East London based floral artist, teacher, content creator and gardener. After surviving a rare cancer diagnosis in 2007, she decided to change her career from television production to vintage retail and events as well as her perspective on her natural curls.
“Prior to losing my hair due to radiotherapy, I had never strayed from chemically relaxing my hair and hadn’t seen my curls in their natural state since I was 13. I had also had long straight extensions for the first time right before diagnosis. I shaved my head when loss started to happen which gave me some control back. I then thought it was the perfect opportunity to go back to my natural curls..no need to transition!”
Since then she has fully embraced her curls!

Up until 12 years old my hair was bone straight like my mother’s.
When my hair transformed into curls, I went through an identity crisis that turned my whole world upside down.
I asked my parents for a perm at 12 and felt like I finally fit in again until I washed my hair and saw that the curls, while looser was still there.
A few months after I decided to stop fighting with what God has me and went to transition my hair to the beautiful curls you see today and have not looked back ever since.

How did hairdressing become your chosen profession?
“Hairdressing runs in my family; starting with my mum who used to work in a salon which influenced me in some ways but I have always been intrigued with hair and its transformative abilities. I started doing hair (mostly cornrows and braids) to earn some extra money whilst studying for my degree but I never intended on making it a long-term career. However, when I graduated, I found an apprenticeship in a salon, which paid me enough for my rent and bills, as well as providing me with a qualification. Since then I fell even more in love with hair, and so, I just allowed myself to be open to the different opportunities available for me to progress within the industry.”
What would you say was your defining moment as a professional hairstylist?
“So far, my defining moment was and remains styling Celeste for her 2020 Brit Awards
performance. It was amazing to not only be part of the creative process but to then have it be seen by almost 4 million people and to top it all off, she was featured on several ‘Best Brits Looks’ lists thereafter.”

What would be the one thing you could pass on to a young hairdresser?
“Everything you will ever need to know about hair is already within you just waiting to be unlocked; take every opportunity you get, to listen, watch and learn. Be gentle with hair and co-operate with it because when you fight hair it will fight you back.”

When you have natural hair, you know that shrinkage is a package deal. And although you understand that the arrangement of your DNA dictates how hair grows out of your head, that doesn’t mean you don’t want to change up your look every once in a while.
