OVER 2.5 MILLION CURLFORMERS® & WAVEFORMERS® SOLD

HairFlair steps onto the world stage with catwalk debut

Living by the mantra go big or go home, international British fashion designer Julien Macdonald OBE teamed up with HairFlair to bring his Spring/Summer 2020 London Fashion Week collection to new heights. Known for his high octane and glamorous designs, his clothes are coveted by the likes of everyone from Beyoncé to Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell, Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian, to name just a few. For his Julien x Gabriela capsule collection catwalk show the order of the day was definitely more is more.

The king of glitz, Julien’s designs prove that life can be filled with va-va-voom if you embrace elegance – and hair is no exception. Held in September at Southwark Cathedral, celeb hairdresser Ken Paves led the hair team sponsored by HairFlair: the first time we have ever appeared at London Fashion Week.

Requesting HairFlair because the products ‘give the most perfect curls’, Julien invited us to work alongside Ken to create manes fit for goddesses, so we sent our hair lead Karine Jackson to ensure not a single strand of hair was out of place.

With a front row filled with the fashion and celeb elite, curls reigned on the catwalk where models including Izabel Goulart wore hairpieces pre-set while damp in Curlformers®, then dried in a Softhood® to cultivate a glamazonian finish of full, tumbling waves.

Coming in different sizes and lengths for different curl and wave finishes, Curlformers® and Waveformers® can simply be pulled onto damp hair and left to dry naturally or in a Softhood® with a hairdryer on a low setting. And because no direct heat is applied to the hair, there’s absolutely no damage.

As Julien put it himself: “I loved the finish that the Curlformers® gave on the hair; we worked together on a look that would complement the high octane, glamorous collection and this sexy, voluminous wave was perfect. The effect was masses of luxurious, high glamour waves and bouncy decadent curls that looked amazing on the catwalk.

”Karine Jackson adds: “This look is a relevant take on the 60s bouffant. We prepped the hair by drying the roots with volume. We rolled the front panel forwards around the hairline to keep the hair flat for the sleek back, then we used barrel Curlformers® at the back of the hair to give bouncy loose curls. We sleeked the top back working with the curvature of the head, keeping the front flat, building up height on the crown and the occipital bone, giving the hair amazing movement.”
